Ransomware

Definition:
Ransomware is malware (malicious software) used by a malicious entity to prevent an authorized entity from access to computer systems and data. The affected computer system is held hostage until a "ransom" has been rendered.  Ransomware normally enters into a system through hackings and/or social engineering techniques.

Hackings

Definition:
Hacking refers to unauthorized access by any person(s) or system(s) to your account, system (device, mobile device, server, etc.) and/or network. The entity who commits this illegal intrusion is referred to as a "hacker". A hacker normally gains unauthorized access with an intent to change settings, steal things (goods, services, monies), monitor processes and sessions, or alter use the device to conduct illegal activities on another device.
